The Current River Heritage Museum and Gift Shop located across the street from the Historic Ripley County Court House in downtown Doniphan, Missouri, is your gateway to the history and people who settled this County and a resource for finding local activities and attractions to make your visit to our community a memorable one. Filled with two floors of exhibits, artifacts, and photographs, it is staffed with volunteers who can provide the informtion necessary to direct you to the sites and activities you are here to enjoy. In addition to the displays and information desk, a well stocked Gift Shop sells local crafts and history books. It is also the home of the Ripley County Historical Society and its Library. Regular Hours: Open Weekdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. Closed Sundays and Holidays.

We have developed a one-page city map with points of interest, as well as retail shops, highlighted for visitors to Doniphan and Ripley County. If you have family or friends visiting who would like a copy, stop by the Museum. The The Heritage HomesteadThe Heritage Homestead is a Living History Area located one Block South of the Courthouse Square on Franklin Street in Downtown Doniphan. It consists of an 1860's restored log cabin, log barn, and the newly re-opened Tom Kennon Blacksmith Shop. The site adjoins the original Doniphan Cemetery. The log cabin houses vintage furnishings depicting the rural lifestyle of early settlers. The barn houses antique farm implements, including a wagon, plows, planter, and cultivating tools. The Blacksmith Shop is fully operational and hosts weekly demonstrations staffed by local members of the Blacksmith Association of Missouri. Open Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until Noon If the Blacksmith Shop is Open.
DNAP's OTHER CIVIC PROJECTS:
1. Heritage Park in Downtown Doniphan
The Heritage Park was formerly a block of buildings which were in a sad state of repair when DNAP acquired title and cleared the site to add much needed parking and public space in downtown Doniphan.

2. The Doniphan Community Center
Located at 105 Washington Street the Community Center is available for meetings and events holding up to 75 people with kitchen facilities and a public address system. Reunions, wedding receptions and business meetings can be booked through the Curator of the Museum next door.
